Lest we Forget - our commemorations

We couldn't make our usual poppy events this year, but that didn't stop us commemorating in our own way.

All across the school held a minute silence and took time to remember all those who fought throughout the years in many conflicts.  Also all pupils have been involved in creating poppies for a display in school, which will look beautiful when finished, we look forward to being able to share this with you.

We very much missed attending the parade and service this year, although are very grateful that our Chair of Governors, Julie Taylor, was able to attend a wreath laying ceremony on our behalf.

With just one adult per community group or school able to attend, no parade and no church service, it was a much smaller group than in usual years, but fortunately the piper was still able to play and lead the wreath laying, with an address from the vicar from St Johns Church, Lee Batson.

Naturally the children and community groups were very noticeable by their absence but social distancing and mask wearing still allowed for a few minutes of reflection and opportunity for groups to lay their wreaths to mark, remember and pay their respects on this important day.
